on choosing to rise and not to set.

to sit across the table, the silence increasing.

... why they wed, they know not now.
still together they are

their babes brought forth.

to lose the first,  cost what little, they now share.

this new loss, more painful still.

the time

T'is twilight
is it ris'in'
 or (their,there) setting.

The choice thyr'in ...
to choose to rise,
and not to set.

  

the embers 

their remains, enough to choose,
the fire and warmth.
or cold and bitter;  no more to share.
